At a boutique Amazon lodge like Kuyana, a day is never just a list of activities — it’s a sequence built around a small group, not a fixed schedule for hundreds of guests. Here’s what an authentic Amazon jungle experience actually looks like, hour by hour.
7:30 AM — Breakfast with the jungle already awake
The day at Kuyana starts early, but never rushed. Breakfast is served at 7:30 AM, and by then the jungle has already been awake for a couple of hours: birdsong, movement in the canopy, air still cool from the night. It’s the best time of day to be outside, so we make the most of it from the start.
9:00 AM — Hike to the waterfall
At 9:00 AM, the group heads out toward the waterfall. The length and difficulty of the walk are adjusted to each group’s walking ability — this isn’t a fixed itinerary built for an average visitor, but a route the guide shapes around whoever is actually walking that day. Arriving is its own reward: cold mountain water, the sound of it falling, and the option to jump in if the group wants to.
Midday — A delicious lunch awaits
Back at the lodge, after the hike, a delicious lunch awaits, prepared with produce from our own gardens and trusted local farmers — part of the Kuyana gastronomy experience.
Free afternoon — At your own pace
The afternoon is left open. You can rest in your cabin, relax in the social areas overlooking the forest, or book a massage or spa treatment (an optional service, at an extra cost). There’s no agenda to follow; this is the part of the day each guest decides how to use.
5:30 PM — Cooking class: preparing the maito
At 5:30 PM, the cooking class begins, where guests prepare the maito — the traditional Amazonian wrapped dish — alongside our chef. The starters, sides, and the rest of dinner are prepared in the lodge kitchen, so what you cook literally becomes part of your own dinner that night.
7:00 PM — Dinner under the real sound of the jungle
Dinner is served at 7:00 PM. The restaurant has a roof, so you won’t see the stars from the table — but you will hear the jungle: the nighttime sounds that start right as the sun goes down.
After dinner — Night walk
Once the group finishes dinner — with no fixed time, since each group moves at its own pace — the night walk begins. This is the moment the jungle completely changes: different sounds, different wildlife, a different feeling of being there.
This is just one day. Every Kuyana package — from Safari to Wellness Retreat — builds its own sequence of days like this one, always shaped around the group living it. Explore all Kuyana Amazon Lodge packages and rates or book your stay directly.
