we meet kuyana

Our story

Ivo and Lu spent every free weekend for over a year driving out from Quito to look at land. Most of it wasn’t right — too close to a road, too far from water, too tame. Then a friend, Carlin, told them about a piece of forest on the Hollín River that nobody had managed to walk all the way through. There were no trails. No map worth trusting. They went anyway, with their son Isaac, and stood at the river not really talking. Lu still had her checklist in her bag. She never took it out. That was the place. Kuyana was never a real estate project — it was a decision about how they wanted to live, and the forest they’d spend the next years learning to take care of.

The Creation of Kuyana Amazon Lodge

Here, comfort and conservation go hand in hand. Every cabin, trail, and meal reflects a deep respect for the forest and the people who call it home. What was once a dream is now one of the most authentic eco-lodges in Ecuador, where travelers reconnect with nature through silence, adventure, and genuine human connection.

And so, in September 2017, Kuyana Amazon Lodge welcomed its first guests. From that moment on, the Lodge became more than just a place; it became a story shared between nature and those who came to experience its wonders. With every sunrise and sunset, the family witnessed how, through love and respect, nature allowed them to open their dream to the world.

the team

Today, the Kuyana family has grown. Each team member brings their own story, dedication, and warmth — transforming every stay into a shared experience. Guests don’t just visit; they become part of the Kuyana story — a story that continues to unfold with every tree planted, every smile exchanged, and every new soul that walks these jungle paths.

Welcome to Kuyana — a boutique lodge on the Hollín River, built by people who are still learning to take care of it.
