DAY 1 – Arrival & Kuyana Island Trail
Dinner included
Your adventure begins upon arrival at Kuyana Amazon Lodge, where you are welcomed with a refreshing native drink — a first taste of the forest that will be your home for the next few days. After a brief introduction to Kuyana’s regenerative philosophy, settle into your cabin and allow the sound of the river to replace the noise of the city.
Begin your experience with a guided walk along the Guitarracocha Trail, inspired by a local legend that speaks of guitar-like sounds echoing near its lagoon at night. The trail leads to Kuyana Island, where your guide shares insights into the surrounding ecosystem and its importance for regeneration. From the Kuyana Viewpoint, enjoy panoramic views of the Hollín River, one of the main tributaries of the Napo River, admired for the strength and beauty with which it shapes the landscape.
(Difficulty: 2.5/5 – approx. 1.5 hours)
The day concludes with a thoughtfully prepared farm-to-table dinner, featuring fresh local ingredients and reflecting the flavors of the Amazon and the warmth of Kuyana’s hospitality.
DAY 2 – Birdsong, Waterfalls & Amazon Flavors
Breakfast, lunch & dinner included
Wake to the natural melody of the rainforest and join your naturalist guide for a gentle birdwatching walk, where parrots, kingfishers, and caciques bring color and sound to the forest canopy.
(Difficulty: 2/5 – approx. 1 hour)
After breakfast, continue with a guided hike to the Ushpayacu Waterfalls, one of Kuyana’s signature trails. The walk invites deep connection with the forest — crossing natural springs, feeling the humidity of the air, and reaching a cascade where you can bathe beneath refreshing waters. A short section involves light climbing, adding a subtle sense of adventure.
(Difficulty: 3/5 – approx. 3 hours)
Back at the lodge, enjoy lunch before taking part in a traditional Amazon cooking class. Learn to prepare dishes such as maito and chontacuro, followed by a hands-on chocolate-making experience using native cacao — an immersion into Amazonian flavors and culture.
As evening settles in, relax with dinner at the lodge, accompanied by the soft glow of lanterns and the sounds of the forest at night.
DAY 3 – Amazon Safari & Jungle Night Walk
Breakfast, lunch & dinner included
After breakfast, embark on the Amazon Safari Experience, one of Kuyana’s most memorable adventures. Begin with a quiet journey in a non-motorized canoe across a lagoon, where birds, butterflies, and monkeys often reveal the pulse of the jungle. Continue along the Napo River, the main artery of the Ecuadorian Amazon, aboard a motorized canoe until reaching a Quechua community.
You will be welcomed with traditional music and dance and invited to share in local customs, art, and daily life. This encounter offers a meaningful connection with the human heart of the rainforest, where culture and nature coexist in harmony.
(Difficulty: 2.5/5 – approx. 6 hours)
As night falls, join a guided night walk through the forest. Step quietly along the trails as the jungle transforms after dark, revealing a world alive with sound, movement, and nocturnal life.
(Difficulty: 2/5 – approx. 1 hour)
DAY 4 – Planting Your Legacy
Breakfast included
Your final morning begins with birdsong and fresh coffee — a moment to reflect on the experiences of the past days. Before departure, take part in Kuyana’s Reforestation Project along the Hollín River.
Plant a native tree and leave a living contribution to the regeneration of the Amazon — a lasting symbol of conscious travel and connection with the forest.
Every traveler leaves Kuyana with a living legacy, one that continues to grow long after the journey ends.
