DAY 1 – Welcome to the Rainforest
Dinner included
Arrive at Kuyana Amazon Lodge and enjoy a refreshing welcome drink made from local fruits — a first taste of the forest that will accompany you throughout your stay. After a brief introduction to your itinerary, settle into your room surrounded by trees, birdsong, and the natural calm of the Amazon.
Begin your experience with a guided walk along the Guitarracocha Trail, named after an old Kichwa legend that speaks of soft guitar-like sounds near a hidden lagoon. The trail crosses Kuyana Island, an area rich in native vegetation and wildlife, and leads to the Kuyana Viewpoint, where you can observe the Hollín River, one of the main tributaries of the Napo River, winding through the forest.
(Difficulty: 2.5/5 – approx. 1.5 hours)
After dinner, join a guided night walk to explore the rainforest after sunset. Discover frogs, insects, and the subtle movements of nocturnal life, experiencing the forest in a quieter, more intimate way.
(Difficulty: 2/5 – approx. 1 hour)
DAY 2 – Amazon Canoe Safari & Cultural Discovery
Breakfast, lunch & dinner included
After breakfast, set out on an Amazon canoe safari. Begin with a peaceful ride in a non-motorized canoe across a lagoon, where birds and monkeys are often seen moving through the treetops. Continue along the Napo River in a motorized canoe toward a nearby Kichwa community.
Upon arrival, you’ll be welcomed with a traditional dance and invited to learn about local crafts, daily life, and the community’s deep connection with the land and river.
(Difficulty: 2.5/5 – approx. 6 hours total)
Back at the lodge, enjoy lunch and take part in a traditional Amazon cooking class. Prepare local dishes such as maito (fish cooked in bijao leaves) and chontacuro, followed by a hands-on chocolate-making experience using locally sourced cacao.
As evening arrives, share a relaxed dinner at the lodge, surrounded by the sounds of the forest and the calm that defines life in the Amazon.
DAY 3 – Waterfalls & Planting Your Legacy
Breakfast included
Enjoy a peaceful final breakfast before joining your guide for a walk to the Ushpayacu Waterfalls. This trail follows a series of streams and natural springs within Kuyana’s reserve, offering a final opportunity to observe the forest’s textures, colors, and sounds in perfect balance.
(Difficulty: 3/5 – approx. 3 hours)
Before departure, take part in Kuyana’s Reforestation Project. Plant a native tree and leave a living contribution to the Amazon — a meaningful gesture that connects your journey with the ongoing regeneration of the forest.
