Itinerary

DAY 1 – Pick-up in Quito: 6:00 AM | Rafting Start: 9:00 AM | Meals: Lunch & Dinner Included

If you’re an adventure enthusiast looking to explore one of the world’s top whitewater destinations, your journey begins here.

Depart from Quito at 6:00 AM, heading deep into the Amazon basin toward Mondayacu. At 9:00 AM, the experience begins with a safety induction and rafting briefing led by our internationally certified guides.

Prepare to conquer the Jondachi–Hollín River, a breathtaking waterway renowned for its Class IV rapids, emerald canyons, and dramatic jungle scenery. This stretch is ideal for experienced rafters seeking a world-class adrenaline rush surrounded by waterfalls, wildlife, and panoramic views.

After approximately three hours of thrilling descent, arrive at Kuyana Amazon Lodge, where a refreshing native welcome drink awaits. Enjoy a flavorful Amazonian lunch, followed by time to unwind with a 40-minute massage in our treetop spa, accompanied by the soothing sounds of the rainforest.

As evening falls, savor a three-course gourmet dinner prepared with fresh local ingredients.

End the day with a guided night walk, exploring the rainforest’s nocturnal wonders — frogs, insects, and other creatures that come alive under the moonlight.
(Difficulty: 2/5 – approx. 1 hour)

DAY 2 – Jungle Exploration & Cultural Immersion

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner Included

Awaken to the songs of tropical birds and enjoy a nutritious Amazonian breakfast.

Set out on a guided hike to the Ushpayacu Waterfalls, one of Kuyana’s natural jewels. Walk through lush rainforest, admire towering trees, and reach a natural pool beneath the falls, where you can enjoy a refreshing swim and reconnect with nature.
(Difficulty: 3/5 – approx. 3 hours)

After lunch, immerse yourself in Amazonian culture during a traditional cooking class. Learn to prepare local specialties such as maito and chontacuro, followed by a hands-on chocolate-making experience using native cacao.

As the day winds down, relax in our open-air lounge with panoramic jungle views, then enjoy a dinner under the stars — a true expression of Ecuadorian hospitality.

DAY 3 – Canyon & Ceremonial Caves Exploration

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner Included

After breakfast, depart for the Grand Canyon of Kuyana, located approximately 35 minutes from the lodge. This adventurous excursion includes a 10-meter rock ascent through a natural canyon carved over centuries.

The trail leads to a sacred lagoon where, according to local legend, ancient healers once brought the sick for spiritual cleansing. Continue onward to a complex of ceremonial caves, where impressive stalactites and stalagmites reveal the raw power and history of the earth.

This four-hour exploration rewards you with breathtaking views, cultural insight, and a profound connection to the natural world.
(Difficulty: 3.5/5 – approx. 4 hours)

Return to the lodge for lunch and time to relax before dusk. As night falls, join a guided night walk and campfire, discovering the jungle’s nocturnal life and listening to the living rhythm of the Amazon beneath a sky full of stars.

DAY 4 – Farewell & Jungle Legends

Breakfast included

Begin your final morning with breakfast prepared using fresh local produce. Before departure, take part in Kuyana’s Hollín River Reforestation Project — plant a native tree and leave a living legacy in the Amazon.

Conclude your stay with a guided walk along Kuyana Island and the Guitarracocha Trail. Local legend says guitar-like sounds echo here at night. Walk through this storied landscape, enjoy a refreshing swim, and take in sweeping views of the Hollín River, one of the Amazon’s cleanest tributaries.
