Itinerary

DAY 1 – Arrival & Kuyana Island Experience

Dinner included

Your cultural journey in the Amazon begins upon arrival at Kuyana Amazon Lodge, where you are welcomed with a refreshing local beverage and a brief introduction to your stay and Kuyana’s philosophy — a place where comfort, nature, and culture come together.

Begin your experience with a guided walk along the Guitarracocha Trail, named after a local legend that speaks of guitar-like sounds heard near its lagoon at night. The trail leads to Kuyana Island, where you’ll have the opportunity to enjoy a refreshing swim in the Hollín River, known for its purity and importance as one of the main tributaries of the Napo River. The walk concludes at a scenic viewpoint offering peaceful views of the surrounding forest.
(Difficulty: 2.5/5 – approx. 1.5 hours)

As the day comes to an end, enjoy a thoughtfully prepared farm-to-table dinner made with fresh ingredients from Kuyana’s gardens and nearby communities — a reflection of authentic Amazonian flavors and the people who preserve them.

DAY 2 – Ancestral Wisdom & Jungle Night Walk

Breakfast, lunch & dinner included

Wake to the sounds of the forest and enjoy a nourishing breakfast prepared with local ingredients. After breakfast, visit the Quechua Women’s Project (AMUPAKIN), located approximately 25 minutes from the lodge. This initiative, led by Quechua midwives, safeguards ancestral knowledge related to natural medicine and traditional childbirth practices.

During your visit, you’ll observe a representation of a traditional birth, learn about medicinal plants used by generations of women, and take part in a purification ceremony that reflects the deep spiritual connection between people and nature.

Return to Kuyana for lunch and, later in the day, join a traditional Amazon cooking class. Prepare local dishes such as maito and chontacuro, followed by a hands-on chocolate-making experience using locally sourced cacao.

As night falls, set out on a guided night walk through the forest. Discover insects, frogs, and other nocturnal species, experiencing the jungle from a quieter and more intimate perspective.
(Difficulty: 2/5 – approx. 1 hour)

DAY 3 – Waterfalls & Planting Your Legacy

Breakfast included

Enjoy your final breakfast in the Amazon and take a moment to reflect on the cultural experiences of the past days. Before departure, take part in Kuyana’s Reforestation Project along the Hollín River. Plant a native tree and leave a positive contribution that supports the regeneration of the forest.

Continue with a guided walk to the Ushpayacu Waterfalls, following a trail that winds through lush vegetation and natural springs within Kuyana’s private reserve. Along the way, you’ll encounter small cascades and quiet forest corners that invite reflection and connection with nature.
(Difficulty: 3/5 – approx. 2 hours)

This final experience is a reminder that every visit to Kuyana helps protect the Amazon — and that cultural exchange and conservation go hand in hand.
