DAY 1 – Arrival & Kuyana Island Experience
Dinner included
Your cultural journey in the Amazon begins upon arrival at Kuyana Amazon Lodge, where you are welcomed with a refreshing local beverage and a brief introduction to your stay and Kuyana’s philosophy — a place where comfort, nature, and culture come together.
Begin exploring with a guided walk along the Guitarracocha Trail, named after a local legend that speaks of guitar-like sounds heard near its lagoon at night. The path leads to Kuyana Island, where you’ll have the opportunity to enjoy a refreshing swim in the Hollín River, known for its purity and importance as one of the main tributaries of the Napo River. The walk concludes at a scenic viewpoint offering peaceful views of the surrounding forest.
(Difficulty: 2.5/5 – approx. 1.5 hours)
As the day comes to an end, enjoy a thoughtfully prepared farm-to-table dinner made with fresh ingredients from Kuyana’s gardens and nearby communities — a reflection of authentic Amazonian flavors and the people who preserve them.
DAY 2 – Quechua Women & Amazon Cooking Class
Breakfast, lunch & dinner included
After breakfast, visit the Quechua Women’s Project (AMUPAKIN), located approximately 25 minutes from the lodge. This inspiring initiative, led by Quechua midwives, preserves ancestral knowledge related to natural medicine and traditional childbirth practices.
During the visit, you’ll learn about medicinal plants, healing rituals, and ancestral methods used to support life in harmony with nature. The experience concludes with a purification ceremony, an intimate moment focused on renewal and inner balance.
Return to Kuyana for lunch and, later in the day, take part in a traditional Amazon cooking class. Prepare local dishes such as maito and chontacuro, followed by a hands-on chocolate-making experience using locally sourced cacao.
Dinner is served at the lodge, accompanied by the natural sounds of the forest at night.
DAY 3 – Waterfalls & Jungle Night Walk
Breakfast, lunch & dinner included
After breakfast, set out on a guided hike to the Ushpayacu Waterfalls, located within Kuyana’s private reserve. The trail winds through lush vegetation, natural springs, and small cascades, offering moments of calm and connection with the forest.
(Difficulty: 3/5 – approx. 3 hours)
Return to the lodge for lunch and time to relax — by the pool, in your cabin, or simply enjoying the quiet rhythm of the Amazon.
As night falls, join a guided night walk through the forest. Discover frogs, insects, and other nocturnal species that emerge after dark, experiencing the jungle from a quieter and more intimate perspective.
(Difficulty: 2/5 – approx. 1 hour)
DAY 4 – Plant Your Legacy
Breakfast included
Enjoy your final breakfast at Kuyana, surrounded by birdsong and forest sounds. Before departure, take part in Kuyana’s Reforestation Project along the Hollín River.
Plant a native tree and leave a living contribution to the regeneration of the Amazon — a meaningful gesture that connects your journey with the future of this ecosystem.
Every guest becomes part of Kuyana’s story, helping preserve the forest, its people, and its future.
