Itinerary

DAY 1 – Arrival and Amazon Exploration

Dinner included

Welcome to Kuyana Amazon Lodge, your gateway to adventure travel in Ecuador. Upon check-in, enjoy a refreshing native beverage and a warm introduction to the lodge and your itinerary.

Begin your journey with a guided hike along the Guitarracocha Trail, a route inspired by ancient legends where locals say the sound of guitars can be heard at night. Walk through Kuyana Island, reach the scenic Hollín River viewpoint, and take a refreshing dip along its sandy banks. (Difficulty: 2.5/5 – approx. 1.5 hours).

Return to the lodge for a three-course dinner prepared with the freshest Amazonian ingredients — a perfect culinary welcome to your rainforest adventure.

DAY 2 – Birdwatching, Waterfalls & Amazon Flavors

Breakfast, lunch, and dinner included

Start the morning with an early birdwatching hike, where the forest awakens with color and melody. Spot orioles, caciques, kingfishers, parrots, and countless other bird species that make this region a paradise for nature lovers. (Difficulty: 2/5 – approx. 1 hour).

After breakfast, embark on a guided walk to the Ushpayacu Waterfalls, one of Kuyana’s natural treasures. Follow forest trails to reach a natural pool beneath the waterfalls, where you can enjoy a rejuvenating swim and a moment of energy cleansing surrounded by pure jungle. (Difficulty: 3/5 – approx. 3 hours).

In the afternoon, participate in our traditional Amazon cooking class, learning to prepare local delicacies such as maito and chontacuro, and enjoy a hands-on chocolate-making experience from local cacao beans.

End your day with a cozy dinner under the stars, surrounded by the tranquil sounds of the rainforest.

DAY 3 – Whitewater Rafting & Jungle Nightlife

Breakfast, lunch, and dinner included

Fuel up with a delicious Amazonian breakfast and prepare for one of the most exhilarating activities in Ecuador — whitewater rafting on the Jatunyacu river

With our internationally certified guides, you’ll safely navigate Class II and III rapids, experiencing the thrill of Amazon adventure travel at its best. Along the way, admire the lush rainforest, exotic orchids, and stunning riverside landscapes.

We’ll pause mid-river for a beach picnic lunch, complete with time to swim, rest, and enjoy games in nature. (Difficulty: 3.5/5 – approx. 6 hours).

As night falls, join a guided night. Learn about the jungle’s nocturnal creatures — frogs, insects, and mammals — and feel the vibrant life of the forest after dark. (Difficulty: 2/5 – approx. 1 hour).

DAY 4 – Farewell & Tree Planting Experience

Breakfast included

Awaken to the sounds of tropical birds and savor your final breakfast at Kuyana Lodge. Before departure, we invite you to participate in our Hollín River reforestation project.

Plant a native tree, contribute to rainforest conservation, and leave a positive footprint in the Amazon — a symbolic gesture that connects your adventure to the preservation of this extraordinary ecosystem.
