DAY 1 – Welcome to the Rainforest
Dinner included
Arrive at Kuyana Amazon Lodge and be welcomed with a refreshing drink made from local fruits — a simple taste of the forest that will accompany you throughout your stay. Our team will give you a brief introduction to your itinerary and help you settle into your room surrounded by trees and birdsong.
In the afternoon, begin your first walk along the Guitarracocha Trail, a path named after an old Kichwa legend that speaks of soft guitar sounds near a small lagoon. The route crosses Kuyana Island, a space rich in native vegetation and wildlife, before reaching the Kuyana Viewpoint, where you can observe the Hollín River winding through the forest.
(Difficulty: 2.5/5, approx. 1.5 hours)
After dinner, join your guide for a night walk to explore the forest when it comes alive after sunset. You’ll discover frogs, insects, and the quiet movement of the jungle at night — an experience that connects you to its natural rhythm.
(Difficulty: 2.0/5, approx. 1 hour)
DAY 2 – Amazon Canoe Safari & Cultural Discovery
Breakfast, lunch, and dinner included
Start your morning with a farm-to-table breakfast prepared with ingredients from Kuyana’s gardens and nearby communities.
Board a non-motorized canoe for a quiet ride across a lagoon where birds and monkeys can often be seen moving through the treetops. Continue along the Napo River in a motorized canoe until you reach a Kichwa community, where you’ll be received with a traditional dance and learn about their crafts, customs, and connection to the land.
(Difficulty: 2.5/5, approx. 6 hours)
In the afternoon, take part in our Amazon cooking class and prepare local dishes such as maito (fish cooked in bijao leaves) and chontacuro. Finish by roasting cacao and making your own chocolate, guided by people who keep these traditions alive.
End the day with a relaxed dinner under the open sky, sharing stories and enjoying the calm of the forest.
DAY 3 – Waterfalls & Farewell
Breakfast included
Begin your last morning with a peaceful breakfast before joining your guide for a walk to the Ushpayacu waterfalls. This route follows a series of streams and springs that flow through Kuyana’s reserve. Along the way, you’ll observe the forest’s textures, colors, and sounds — a space where water, plants, and wildlife coexist in perfect balance.
(Difficulty: 3.0/5, approx. 3 hours)
Before returning, you’ll be invited to plant a native tree, leaving a living symbol of your visit and contributing to Kuyana’s ongoing reforestation project.
