Itinerary

DAY 1 – Arrival & Kuyana Island Experience

Dinner included

Your Amazon cultural journey begins! Upon check-in at Kuyana Amazon Lodge, our team will welcome you with a refreshing local beverage and a short introductory talk about your stay and the philosophy behind Kuyana — a place where comfort, nature, and culture come together.

Afternoon:
Begin exploring with a guided walk along the Guitarracocha Trail, named after a local legend that tells of guitar sounds heard near its lagoon at night. The path leads to Kuyana Island, where you can take a refreshing swim in the Hollín River, known for its purity and importance as a tributary of the Napo River. The route ends at a scenic viewpoint offering a peaceful panorama of the surrounding forest.
(Moderate difficulty: 2.5/5, approximately 1.5 hours total.)

Evening:
Enjoy a farm-to-table dinner, thoughtfully prepared with fresh ingredients from our gardens and nearby communities. Each dish reflects the authentic flavors of the Amazon and honors the local people who preserve its culinary traditions.

DAY 2 – Ancestral Wisdom & Night Walk

Breakfast, lunch, and dinner included

Morning:
Wake up to the sounds of the forest and enjoy a nourishing breakfast prepared with local ingredients.
Afterwards, visit the Quechua Women’s Project (Amupakin), located about 25 minutes from the lodge. This initiative, led by Quechua midwives, preserves the ancestral knowledge of natural medicine and childbirth practices.
During your visit, you’ll witness a representation of a traditional birth, learn about medicinal plants used by generations of women, and take part in a purification ceremony that reflects the deep spiritual connection between people and nature.

Afternoon:
Return to Kuyana for a relaxed lunch. Later, take part in our Amazon cooking class, where you’ll prepare traditional dishes such as maito and chontacuro and discover the process of handmade chocolate using local cacao.

Evening:
As night falls, set out on a guided Night Walk (moderate difficulty 2/5, approx. 1 hour). Experience the jungle from a new perspective, observing the insects, frogs, and other nocturnal species that bring the forest to life after dark.

DAY 3 – Reforestation & Ushpayacu Waterfalls

Breakfast included

Begin your last morning in the Amazon with a wholesome breakfast and a moment to reflect on your experience.
Before departure, join our Reforestation Project along the Hollín River — plant your own tree and leave a positive mark that supports the regeneration of the forest.

Morning Activity:
Take a guided walk to the Ushpayacu Waterfalls, a trail that winds through lush vegetation and natural springs within Kuyana’s private reserve. Along the way, you’ll encounter small cascades.
(Moderate difficulty: 3/5, approximately 2 hours total.)

This final walk is a reminder that every step in nature contributes to its renewal — and that your visit helps protect this ecosystem for future generations.
